The President is here!

I was stuck in the house all morning. Here’s the story …

8.00 am Headline

On today’s newspaper headline, the President is coming.

9.00 am Dead jam

Then everybody in town decides to go to the ceremony to see him. My house is about 200m away from the ground zero. They parked the minibusses used to carry the spectators on side streets like ours. Both sides of the street

9.30 am More jam

10.00 am Dead end

I insisted on going to work, about 5 m drive down the street I was faced with this … Then I took a long reverse trip back to the garage

11.00 am Things are clearing up a bit

11.30 am Things are definitely clearing up

People! It is a great thing, public rally. Show that you care. Show your support. Show your curiosity.

But for God’s sake, clean up after yourself!! Don’t leave your trash in front of other people’s houses. Show some respect for other people’s property, please

Hehehe.. it’s interesting to know that people actually willing to make an effort to meet the President. As far as I know, people (in Jakarta at least) wouldn’t care less if the President is coming, let alone making an effort to meet him.

About the traffic? Yeah it’s annoying. My parents live in Bandung, and at times Pejabat-pejabat come to the city and what they do is only making the traffic far worse.

About the trash? This is most annoying part. I don’t know what is it with those people. Is it in their genes so they become so careless about trash? Or simply ignorance? I tend to think a little bit (or more of) both.

Great pictures btw, they certainly tell a lot 🙂

I think that problem is universal! Where there was a crowd of people, there usually remains a pile of trash! Sad isn’t it?

    Adit,

One of our security guards shook his hands earlier that day, still talked about it till today. He was so thrilled. One comment he made “He is kind of short!” and I said “No way! He looks big on TV!”

    Jientje,

I think the problem here is much more serious than there. It’s a land of trash. 😦
